Last updated: November 2026. Morning Prayer ("we", "us") operates morning-prayer.com. This policy explains what data we collect, why, who receives it and what your choices are. Contact: morningprayer.com@gmail.com.
What we collect and why
- Prayer requests you submit: the name or initials you type, the text of your intention, your e-mail address (required, never published) and a hashed, non-reversible identifier derived from your IP address to prevent abuse. We use the e-mail address to tell you when your request is published, to send you the personal prayer written for it and the links to share it, and to send you our daily morning prayer (see Newsletter). Prayer requests are public once published.
- Stories and contact messages: your name, optional e-mail and the text you send, used to publish the story after review or to answer you.
- Newsletter: your e-mail address and language. You join the list either through the newsletter form (confirmed by the link we e-mail you) or by submitting a prayer request, as stated under that form. Every e-mail contains a one-click unsubscribe link; unsubscribing deletes your address from the list.
- "I prayed", candles and commitments: counted per intention together with the hashed identifier above, so that each visitor can act once.
- Server logs: our hosting provider stores standard access logs (IP address, time, requested page, browser) for security, for a limited period.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
We show advertising through Google AdSense to keep the site free. Google and its partners are third-party vendors that use cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, and similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites and to measure the ads. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your prior visits to our site or other sites on the Internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings (https://adssettings.google.com) or https://www.aboutads.info/choices; EU visitors can also use https://www.youronlinechoices.eu. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, Google's consent message (a Google-certified consent management platform using the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework) asks for your consent before any advertising cookie is set, and we apply Google Consent Mode v2; if you do not consent, only non-personalised or limited ads are shown. Elsewhere our own consent banner asks you, with the same effect if you choose "Only essential". How Google uses data when you use our site is described at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and Google's privacy policy is at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Analytics (Google Analytics 4)
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used (pages visited, country, device, referrer). It uses cookies and collects a pseudonymous client identifier; IP addresses are not stored by Google Analytics 4. Analytics runs only after you consent to it in the consent message or banner, and stops if you withdraw that consent. You can also block it with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Anonymous visit counts
Separately from Google Analytics, the site counts its own traffic as daily totals: the page opened, its language, the website you came from and the device type (phone, tablet or computer). This uses no cookies and stores nothing on your device, and we keep no IP address or identifier with these totals, so they cannot be linked to you. They run without consent because they are not personal data.
Cookies and consent
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland see Google's consent message, where you can consent, not consent or manage your options. Other visitors see our banner, which lets you accept all cookies or only essential ones. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time through the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page, as easily as you gave it. When you withdraw, analytics stops and we delete the analytics and advertising cookies set on this site. Essential cookies and local storage remember your language choice and your consent decision. All other cookies (advertising, analytics, affiliate) are set only with your consent where the law requires it.
Affiliate links
Links to Amazon are affiliate links; when you click them Amazon sets its own cookies and we may earn a commission at no cost to you. See Amazon's privacy notice for details.
E-mail delivery and hosting
E-mails are sent from our Google Workspace/Gmail account (Google LLC). The site is hosted on a virtual server at Hostinger; the database (prayer requests, subscribers, generated texts) stays on that server. Some of these providers are located in the United States; transfers rely on the EU standard contractual clauses and Google's participation in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Prayers written with AI assistance
Daily prayers, verses of the day and the personal prayers written for prayer requests are produced with the help of an AI model (Anthropic Claude) under editorial rules and are marked as such. Your prayer request text, without your e-mail address, is sent to that service to write the prayer; it is not used to train models.
Legal basis and retention
Consent (newsletter, cookies, advertising personalisation), performance of the request you make (publishing your intention or story, answering your message) and our legitimate interest in keeping the service safe and measuring its use. Prayer requests stay online until you ask us to remove them; newsletter data is deleted when you unsubscribe; server logs are kept for up to 30 days; mail logs for 12 months.
Your rights
You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your data, and object to processing, at any time by writing to morningprayer.com@gmail.com. EU residents may lodge a complaint with their data protection authority. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing.
Children
The service is not directed at children under 16. Do not submit personal data of minors.
Changes
We will post any changes to this policy on this page and update the date above.
