Litany of trust: Jesus, I trust in You
Short petitions to be freed from fear and to rest in Jesus
Morning Prayer editorial team · Updated: November 2026
The Litany of Trust written by the Sisters of Life has helped many people hand their fears to Jesus; it is their copyrighted text and is available through their community. This page offers an original litany of trust in the same spirit: a series of short petitions asking to be set free from fear and to trust Jesus more deeply.
Let us pray
Lord Jesus, I come to You with a heart that wants to trust and keeps grabbing the wheel. Hear each of these petitions, and after each one I will answer: Jesus, I trust in You.
From the fear that I am not enough and never will be, set me free. Jesus, I trust in You.
From the belief that I must earn Your love, set me free. Jesus, I trust in You.
From replaying the past and rehearsing the future, set me free. Jesus, I trust in You.
From the need to control what only You can hold, set me free. Jesus, I trust in You.
From the fear of being abandoned, set me free. Jesus, I trust in You.
From the voice that says my sins are too many, set me free. Jesus, I trust in You.
From the dread of suffering and of death, set me free. Jesus, I trust in You.
That You are with me in this exact moment, help me believe. Jesus, I trust in You.
That Your plan for me is good even when it hurts, help me believe. Jesus, I trust in You.
That You can bring good out of my worst mistakes, help me believe. Jesus, I trust in You.
That You will provide what I need, day by day, help me believe. Jesus, I trust in You.
Closing prayer: Jesus, You slept in the boat while the storm raged, because You knew the Father was holding it. Give me that sleep. Let me stop bracing against a future You have already seen and rest in the present where You actually are. Take my fears one by one, as a parent takes a child's small hand, and lead me. Jesus, I trust in You. Amen.
Blessing
May every fear you have named today rest in the hands of Jesus, and may you fall asleep tonight in the boat with Him.
