Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus: Nine Days of Trust
A daily prayer to the Heart that loves us without measure
Morning Prayer editorial team · Updated: November 2026
A novena is nine days of prayer for one intention, recalling the nine days the apostles prayed before Pentecost. Pray this each day, adding your intention where indicated, and trust the Heart of Jesus with it.
Let us pray
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I come to You on this day of my novena with a heart full of need and a heart full of trust.
You said: Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. I am coming. I am laboring and burdened, and I bring You this intention: (name your intention). You already know it. You have known it longer than I have. I place it inside Your Heart, where nothing is lost and nothing is forgotten.
You said: Ask and you shall receive. I am asking, Lord. Not with a demand but with the confidence of a child who knows the Father is good. If what I ask is good for me, grant it. If it is not, give me something better and the grace to recognize it.
You said: Whoever comes to me I will never turn away. I believe You. Even when my faith is small and my prayers feel unanswered, I believe that Your Heart is open and that I am welcome there.
Sacred Heart, pierced for love of me, teach my heart to love as You love. Make me patient, make me humble, make me merciful. Let my own heart be a little like Yours by the end of these nine days.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I trust in You. Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us. Sacred Heart of Jesus, Your kingdom come. Amen.

May the Sacred Heart of Jesus receive your intention, answer it in love, and make your heart like His own.
