Prayer for My Wife: Blessing, Joy, and Peace
A husband's prayer for the woman he loves

“And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”
— Matthew 25:40 (KJV)
Reflection
Jesus does not ask us to look for him in faraway places. He tells us he can be found in the hungry neighbour, the lonely colleague, the stranger who needs a hand. Every small act of care, offered quietly, is received by him as if it were done to him in person.
Today the Church may remember Saint Martin de Porres, a Dominican brother in Lima, Peru, who spent his life caring for the sick and the poor and is honoured as a patron of social justice. His holiness grew in ordinary tasks: sweeping, nursing, sharing bread. Nothing he did was too small to become a meeting with Christ.
As this November invites us to pray for the faithful departed, think also of those who once served you without counting the cost: parents, teachers, friends who have gone before us. Thank God for them, and let their kindness continue through you. Ask yourself who the least of these might be in your day: someone easy to overlook, someone who cannot repay you. Then take one concrete step toward them. Christ is already waiting there.
A short prayer with this verse
Lord Jesus, you hide yourself in the least of our brothers and sisters. Open my eyes today to see you in those I might pass by. Give me the humble, generous heart of Saint Martin de Porres, ready to serve without seeking praise. Let your holy angels guide my steps toward anyone in need. Remember in your mercy all the faithful departed who showed us your love, and bring them into the light of your face. Amen.
