Prayer for My Wife: Blessing, Joy, and Peace

A husband's prayer for the woman he loves

Morning Prayer editorial team · Updated: November 2026

Saint Paul told husbands to love their wives as Christ loves the Church. Praying for her is one of the truest ways to do that. Pray this for your wife and ask God to make you the husband she needs.

Let us pray

Father, thank You for my wife. Thank You for the day I met her, for the vows we made, and for every ordinary day since. She is Your gift to me, and I do not want to take her for granted.

Bless her today. You know what she is carrying: the responsibilities she rarely mentions, the worries she keeps to herself, the tiredness she pushes through. Give her rest for her body and peace for her mind.

Fill her with joy, Lord. Let her laugh today. Let her see herself the way You see her: beautiful, capable, and deeply loved. Protect her from the voices, inside and outside, that tell her she is not enough.

Deepen her faith. Draw her close to Your heart. When she prays, let her feel heard. When she doubts, be her certainty.

Make me the husband she deserves. Give me patience when I am tempted to be short with her, attention when I am tempted to be distracted, and courage to say what I feel instead of assuming she knows. Help me to serve her as Christ serves His Church, laying down my own comfort for her good.

Heal whatever is wounded between us. Strengthen whatever is good. Let our marriage be a place where she feels safe, cherished, and free.

Lord, bless my wife and keep her. She is the love of my life, and I entrust her to You. Amen.

Blessing

May the Lord bless your wife with joy and peace, and may He make your love for her a reflection of His own.

Frequently asked questions

How can I make praying for my wife a habit?

Attach it to something daily: your commute, your morning coffee, or the moment you see her sleeping. A short, consistent prayer is more powerful than an occasional long one.

Can we pray this prayer together?

Yes. Many couples take turns praying for each other aloud. It can feel awkward at first, but praying together is one of the strongest bonds a marriage can have.
