Novena to St Joseph for work, family, and a holy death

Saint Joseph, just man, husband of Mary and guardian of Jesus, I begin these nine days of prayer with confidence. You never spoke a word that was written down, but every word spoken to you by God, you obeyed. Teach me that kind of listening.

You know what it is to face a crisis without a plan: a pregnancy you did not understand, a census that sent you traveling, a king who wanted your child dead, a strange country where you had to find work. In each one you trusted and acted. I bring you my own crisis: (name your intention). Take it to Jesus, who as a boy ran to you with every scraped knee and every question.

Provide for my family as you provided for yours, by honest work and quiet faithfulness. Protect our home. Guard the purity of our hearts. And at the end, when I come to die, stand beside me, as Jesus and Mary stood beside you.

Day 1: For trust in God's plan when I do not understand it.
Day 2: For my spouse, or for the grace to live my vocation well.
Day 3: For my children and all children without a father's care.
Day 4: For work, a just wage, and dignity in labor.
Day 5: For a safe and peaceful home.
Day 6: For purity of heart and chastity in my state of life.
Day 7: For the Church, which you protect as you protected the Holy Family.
Day 8: For the dying, and for a holy death for me and those I love.
Day 9: In thanksgiving for your hidden, faithful life, and for every grace received.

Saint Joseph, pray for us. Amen.
