Prayer for Family Unity, Peace, and Protection

Asking God to bless every member of your household and heal what is strained

Morning Prayer editorial team · Updated: November 2026

Families are where we learn to love and where we are most easily hurt. Bring yours, with all its joys and tensions, to the Holy Family of Nazareth in this prayer.

Let us pray

Heavenly Father, You created the family as a reflection of Your own love. I bring my family to You now, each person by name, with all our gifts and all our rough edges.

Bless the ones who live under this roof and the ones scattered across other cities and countries. Bless the parents and grandparents who taught us to pray. Bless the children who are still learning what love means. Bless the in-laws, the cousins, the ones who married in and the ones who feel left out.

Where there is tension between us, bring peace. Where there are old wounds that have never been spoken of, bring healing. Where someone has drifted away from the family or from You, draw them gently back. Help us to forgive one another quickly and to speak the truth with kindness.

Protect our family from everything that would divide it: from resentment, from addiction, from financial strain, from the busyness that leaves no time for each other. Keep us faithful to You and to one another.

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, you knew the ordinary life of a family: the meals, the work, the worries, the quiet evenings. Make our home a little Nazareth, where God is honored and every person is welcome.

Lord, bind us together in love, now and for generations to come. Amen.

How can my family pray together?

Start small: a short prayer before dinner or at bedtime. Let each person add one thanksgiving and one request. Consistency matters more than length.

What if some family members do not believe?

Pray for them with love and without pressure. Your quiet faithfulness and kindness are often the most convincing witness. God is at work in ways you cannot see.
