Healing Prayer for a Friend Who Is Sick
Carrying someone you love to Jesus when you cannot fix what is wrong

In the Gospel, four friends cut a hole in a roof to lower a paralyzed man down to Jesus. This is a prayer for doing the same thing: carrying your friend to the One who can heal.
Let us pray
Lord Jesus, I come to You today not for myself but for my friend. You know their name; I speak it now in my heart. You know what they are facing, the diagnosis, the treatment, the fear they try to hide when we talk.
I cannot heal them. I have offered meals and rides and messages, and I will keep offering them, but I cannot reach the place where they are hurting. You can. So I bring them to You the way the four friends brought their companion through the roof, because I believe that You will not send them away.
Heal my friend, Lord. Touch their body and restore it. Give their doctors insight and their caregivers patience. Ease their pain and let them rest at night.
Heal their heart too. If they are afraid, be their courage. If they feel like a burden, show them how loved they are. If they have grown distant from You in this suffering, draw them close again.
Show me how to be a good friend in this season. Give me words when words are needed and silence when silence is better. Keep me from disappearing because I do not know what to say.
I entrust my friend to Your mercy, Lord. Whatever comes, let them know they are not alone, because You are with them and so am I. Amen.
