Prayer for Healing of Body, Mind, and Spirit
Asking Jesus, the Divine Physician, to touch what is broken
Morning Prayer editorial team · Updated: November 2026
Jesus never turned away anyone who came to Him sick. Come to Him now with whatever hurts, in your body, your mind, or your heart, and ask Him to lay His hands on it.
Let us pray
Lord Jesus, You walked through villages and the sick were brought to You on mats and in the arms of friends. You touched lepers no one else would touch. You spoke, and fevers left. I come to You now, because You are the same today as You were then.
You know exactly what is wrong with me. You know the diagnosis and the fear behind it. You know the pain I describe to doctors and the pain I describe to no one. Lay Your hands on me, Lord. Heal what can be healed, and give me strength to bear what remains.
Heal my body. Restore what sickness has taken, calm what is inflamed, and give wisdom to every doctor and nurse who cares for me.
Heal my mind. Quiet the anxious thoughts, lift the heaviness, and let me think clearly again.
Heal my spirit. If I have grown bitter, soften me. If I have doubted Your love, show it to me again. If I have stopped hoping, give me hope.
I do not demand, Lord. I ask, as the centurion asked, trusting that You can do it with a word. Whatever You choose, let me know that You are near, that my suffering is not wasted, and that You will never leave me alone in it.
Jesus, Divine Physician, I trust in You. Amen.
Blessing
May the healing hands of Christ rest upon you, and may His peace guard your heart while you wait.

Frequently asked questions
Does praying for healing mean I should stop medical treatment?
No. The Church teaches that medicine is a gift from God. Pray and keep your appointments. This prayer even asks God to guide your doctors and nurses.
What if I pray for healing and nothing changes?
God always answers, though not always with the cure we ask for. He may give strength, peace, or a healing of the heart first. Keep praying honestly; He hears every word.
Can I pray this prayer for someone else?
Yes. Simply change the words from I to the person's name. Interceding for the sick is one of the oldest Christian practices.
