Daily prayer for us and those we love
A shared everyday prayer asking God to guide, keep and unite all of us
Morning Prayer editorial team ยท Updated: November 2026
Faith is never lived alone, so this daily prayer is said in the plural, for ourselves, our households, our parish and everyone who prays it with us today. Pray it in the morning, at the table, or whenever you want to hold others before God along with yourself.
Let us pray
Lord God, our Father, we come to you today not one by one but together, as your children. You know each of our names and every hidden need we carry. Look kindly on us, on those who are near and those who are far, on all who will pray these words today.
Lord Jesus, walk with us through the ordinary hours: the work waiting on our desks, the meals we share, the conversations that could heal or wound. Teach us to speak gently, to listen patiently, and to notice the person beside us who is struggling quietly. Where we have hurt one another, give us the courage to say sorry and the grace to forgive.
Holy Spirit, bind us together in peace. When we are tired, be our strength. When we are anxious, steady our hearts. When we are tempted to think only of ourselves, widen our love so that it reaches the lonely, the sick, the grieving and the poor.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us. All you angels and saints, pray for us. Stand with us as companions on the way, so that what we cannot carry alone we may carry together, held in the love of Christ.
Father, receive this day as our offering. Keep us faithful in small things, thankful in good moments, and trusting in hard ones. Bring us safely to evening, and at the end of our lives, bring us all home to you. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Blessing
May the Lord bless us all, keep us in his peace and make us a blessing to one another today. Go gently, knowing you are prayed for.
How to pray this prayer

Frequently asked questions
Why pray in the plural, for "us"?
Christians pray as members of one body. Praying for "us" joins your needs with those of your family, parish and the whole Church, just as Jesus taught us to say "Our Father".
What does "pray for us" mean when said to Mary or the saints?
It asks them to intercede before God on our behalf, the way we ask fellow believers to pray for us. Worship belongs to God alone; the saints pray with us and for us.
When is the best time to say this prayer?
Any time suits it, but many people pray it in the morning to offer the day, or together as a family at a meal or before bed.
