Wednesday blessings and prayers with Saint Joseph
Asking God's blessing on our work, our homes and those we care for, through Saint Joseph's intercession
Morning Prayer editorial team ยท Updated: November 2026
In Catholic tradition, Wednesday is the day set aside to honour Saint Joseph, the quiet guardian of the Holy Family. Pray this blessing at any hour of a Wednesday to place your work, your household and the people you love under his fatherly care.
Let us pray
Lord God, faithful Father, you entrusted your Son and his mother to the care of Saint Joseph, a just man who listened, worked and protected without seeking praise. On this Wednesday I come to you with the ordinary things of my life: the tasks waiting for me, the home I return to, the people who depend on me.
Bless the work of my hands today. Whether it is paid or unpaid, seen or hidden, let it be honest and done with care. When I am tired or discouraged, give me Joseph's steady patience, and when plans change without warning, teach me to trust you as he did on the road to Egypt.
Saint Joseph, guardian of the Holy Family, pray for every household I hold in my heart. Watch over parents who carry heavy responsibilities, over those looking for work, over families living through strain or separation. Ask the Lord to give them bread for the day, peace under their roof and the courage to keep going.
Jesus, you grew up in a carpenter's home and learned to work beside him. Be present in the small decisions of this day, in kind words at home, in fairness at work, in the time I give to someone who needs it.
Holy Spirit, keep my heart quiet and attentive, so that, like Joseph, I may hear what God asks of me and do it gladly. May this day be offered to you from beginning to end. Amen.
Blessing
May the Lord bless your work and your home this Wednesday, and may Saint Joseph keep you and your loved ones in his faithful care.
