Prayer for My Children: Protection, Faith, and Future
A parent's daily prayer for sons and daughters of every age

No one prays for a child like a parent does. Whether your children are toddlers or grown with families of their own, pray this over them and entrust them to the Father who loves them even more than you do.
Let us pray
Heavenly Father, I give You my children. You gave them to me first, and I know they belong to You more than they belong to me. I say each of their names before You now.
Protect them, Lord. Keep them safe in body: on the playground, on the road, in the places I cannot follow. Keep them safe in mind: from fear, from cruelty, from the lies this world tells about who they should be. Keep them safe in soul: from everything that would pull them away from You.
Give them faith. Let them know You not as a rule or a habit but as a living Father who loves them. When they are old enough to question, meet them in their questions. When they wander, as children do, call them home. Let the seeds we planted in bedtime prayers grow into a faith that is truly their own.
Give them good friends, wise teachers, and a vocation that uses the gifts You gave them. Let them find work that matters and love that lasts.
Forgive me for the times I have failed them: the impatience, the distraction, the words I regret. Help me to be the parent they need, not perfect but present, honest, and quick to say I am sorry.
Mary, Mother of Jesus, you watched your Son grow and you let Him go. Pray for me as I do the same.
Lord, hold my children in Your hands, today and all their lives. Amen.

May the Lord bless your children and keep them, and may He give you peace as you entrust them to His care.

Frequently asked questions
How can I pray for adult children who have left the faith?
Pray with patience and without nagging. Saint Monica prayed for her son Augustine for many years before he converted. Keep loving them, keep the door open, and trust God's timing.
Is there a saint for parents to pray to for their children?
Saint Monica is the patron of mothers, and Saint Joseph is a model for fathers. Many parents also entrust their children to Mary, who understands a parent's heart.
