Morning prayer
Thanking God for a new day and offering him our work, our loved ones and the hours ahead
Before the day gathers speed, take a quiet moment to thank God for waking and to place everything ahead in his care. Pray these words slowly, perhaps with a cup of coffee still warm in your hands.
Lord God, thank you for this new morning and for the gift of waking. Before the emails, the school run and the first coffee, I place this day in your hands. In these ordinary weeks of the Church's year, teach me to find you in plain tasks done faithfully.
On this Thursday my heart turns to the Eucharist. Jesus, you said, "I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world." (John 6:51). Feed me with that bread, and let my life today be broken open for others in small acts of patience and kindness. Bless the priests who stand at your altar; give them joy, rest and courage.
I offer you my work, with its deadlines and unfinished lists, and every person I will meet: my family, my colleagues, the stranger who needs a word of courtesy. Where there is tension, make me a peacemaker. Where I am tired, be my strength.
In this month of remembrance, I hold before you those I love who have died. Grant them light and peace, and keep me mindful that my own days belong to you.
Protect me and those dear to me through the hours ahead, in our travels, decisions and worries. Holy Spirit, guide my words, and at evening let me find that I have walked with you. Amen.
Blessing
May the Lord, who is the living bread, nourish you today and keep you close to him in every task. May his peace guard your heart and the hearts of those you love, and may the faithful departed rest in his light.

Midday prayer
Asking Christ, the living bread, to renew our purpose, our patience and our trust
Pause wherever you are, set down what is in your hands, and take a few quiet minutes with the Lord. Let this midday prayer gather up your morning and prepare your afternoon.
Lord Jesus, here in the middle of this Thursday I set down my work for a moment and turn to you. The morning has gone quickly: messages answered, tasks half-finished, a conversation that went badly. Let me breathe again in your presence.
You said, "I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world" (John 6:51). On Thursdays the Church honours the gift of the Eucharist, so feed me now with the strength I need for the hours ahead. Renew my purpose, that I may work not for praise or out of fear, but as one sent by you into ordinary places.
Give me patience with the people I will meet this afternoon: the colleague who interrupts, the customer who is tired, the family member who calls at the wrong moment. Let me answer gently, as you have answered me so many times.
In these green weeks of Ordinary Time, teach me to trust your providence in small things: the bills, the deadlines, the plans that may not work out. Bless the priests who break the bread for us, especially those who are weary or alone. And in this month of November, remember those I have loved who have died; bring them into the light of your face.
Then send me back to my work with a quiet heart, ready to serve. Amen.
Blessing
May Christ, the living bread, strengthen you for the rest of this day. May the Father hold your worries in his providence, and may the Holy Spirit give you patience and peace with everyone you meet.

Evening prayer
A prayer to give thanks, ask and offer forgiveness, and rest in God's care
As the day comes to an end, set aside a few quiet minutes. Bring God what you received today, what you regret, and those you love, then let him hold you through the night.
Lord Jesus, as this Thursday draws to its close, I come back to you with the day still in my hands. Thank you for the work that got done and the work that had to wait, for the meal shared at our table, for the kind word I did not expect, and for the quiet strength that carried me through the tired hours of the afternoon.
You told us, "I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world" (John 6:51). On this day dedicated to your Eucharist, I thank you for feeding your people at every altar. Bless and sustain our priests, especially those who are weary or alone tonight.
Let me look honestly at these hours. Where was I impatient with my family? Where did I hold back help I could have given, or speak too quickly? For these failings I ask your mercy. And whoever hurt me today, I release into your hands. Give me a heart that forgives without keeping score.
In this month of remembrance, I commend to you all the faithful departed, especially those I love and miss. Grant them light and peace in your presence.
Now, Father, I lay down my worries about tomorrow and the tasks left unfinished. Holy Spirit, keep watch over our home through the night, and let me wake ready to follow you again. Amen.
Blessing
May the Lord, who is the living bread, give you quiet rest and a peaceful heart. May he watch over those you love, living and departed, and raise you up refreshed to serve him tomorrow.
