Let us pray
Good morning, Lord. You were awake before I was, watching over this house through the dark hours, and now You greet me with another day I did not earn. Thank You.
I want my first words today to be for You. Before I think about what I must do, I remember what You have done: You created me, You redeemed me, You have never once left me alone. Let that truth settle into my bones as I stretch and rise.
Bless the people under this roof and the people I carry in my heart. Bless the ones who are far away and the ones I will see within the hour. Bless even the people who annoy me, because You love them too.
Give me a cheerful spirit. Let me be the person who brings a little light into the room rather than taking it away. When I am tempted to complain, remind me of this moment, when the day was still fresh and I knew that everything in it was a gift.
Walk with me, Lord. Into the traffic, into the meetings, into the dishes and the emails and the ordinary things. Make the ordinary holy by Your presence. Good morning, Lord, and thank You for a new beginning. Amen.
